NZEI Industrial Action

Industrial Action – Thursday 15th November

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

The NZEI has advised the Karitāne Primary School Board of Trustees that the principal and teachers at our school will be taking strike action on Thursday 15th of November 2018.

The Board has carefully considered the availability of teaching staff, and unfortunately decided that we can’t provide the normal teaching services during the strike. The Board has made the decision that the school will need to close during this strike. I know that this is inconvenient for parents and students alike, but please be assured that student safety is our main concern. It’s important that you make alternative arrangements for the care of your child/children on the day of the strike.

The board supports the principal, teachers and NZEI in striving for better employment conditions so that the teaching and learning of our children remains at the highest quality possible. If you wish to know more about what is being discussed in the negotiation please view at the following site:

Thank you for your understanding.

Liz Wootton

Chairperson
Karitāne School Board of Trustees
